I presume it's the same person who came up with the hypothetical that Twilight somehow only has the time and ability to save one thing despite all her fancy-schmancy magic.

And that just reminded me that Twilight would be able to conjure up a fire extuinguishing spell without breaking or sweat. Or just conjure up a shield around the flames until the used all the air in the shield sphere.

Well it has to be thought through logically. Paper and books will burn, dragons bathe in lava....LAVA Spike could easily walk through fire like it was nothing.
Although to be fair....he is now kinda being a third wheel since season 3 just seems to be kept on for comic relief now

That... doesn't really address the matter. There's no reason to think he wouldn't suffocate if trapped in a burning building. He clearly breathes oxygen, and when surrounded by fire and smoke there tends to be very little of it. He could also get trapped under falling debris or knocked out by an explosion. There's plenty of danger in a fire besides just burning to death.
I'm just saying that Twilight can't possibly take his safety for granted.

Call the local fire brigade, and have Mr Resistant-to-fire do something to quell to stuff.

Twilight has lots of options for stopping the fire and saving Spike.
But in this artificially created scenario, where she - for some reason - can only choose one thing to rescue and must abandon the other, Spike's safety can't be guaranteed just because he's fireproof.
