I think Ember is more trying to reinforce the Sparity ship by poking the preverbal dragon, so to speak.
In other words, make Rarity jealous > Rarity now puts more effort into her relationship with Spike.

No, not bad taste, just common ships. I mean, I have the same ones plus others. My ships:
Sparity
Flashlight
Starburst
Soarindash (silently squees )
Dislestia
Derpy Whooves
There's nothing wrong with these ships, in fact they're almost "implied" by the actual show/movies themselves. I mean, Flashlight is OBVIOUSLY implied (not sure why everyone hates Flash, idk what he did wrong), Soarindash is absolutely adorable, Sparity is obvious (dur) and Starburst also because it's absolutely adorable (I mean come on, childhood friends that turn into lovers is adorable :3). I don't like shipping of the Mane 6 together, like Appledash or Rarijack, because those are literally just interchanging between them all. I don't mind other ships like Rarimac or Octascratch, and even though I don't like Fluttercord I still accept that others like it.
Shipping is based on people's opinions, and you shouldn't judge others based on what their ships are because this is a free country and everyone should be allowed to ship who they want to ship.

Shipping is like choosing which fruit flavors do you want with yogurt. There is no right or wrong answer, just preference.
