When the middle expansionist phase had firmly taken hold, the Terran military took drastic steps to unify all transatmospheric craft, in terms of surface design and functionality.

Armor Plate 2.0 was implemented during this time, and all transatmospheric craft had their original plating removed and retrofitted. All weapon ports were hidden (where practicable), and any craft with exposed canopies were retired in favor of those with "virtual" bridges and cockpits. (Virtual in the sense that all visual detection was handled by sensors relaying information to a large holodisplay surrounding the bridge or cockpit.) These virtual systems actually increased the visibility of the crew, as they could (in some cases) see in a nearly complete sphere around their craft, as opposed to having some views blocked by structural elements.

Clockwise from upper left are a frigate, gunship, interceptor, and scout, all fitted with Armor Plate 2.0, and the new colors of the Terran Armed Forces.
