I'd love some crits!Rough sketch on tracing paper. I'm still shaky on the boat in the composition. I can't find reference that I need of a historically accurate viking ship so I may buy a model.

Some of it I followed, some of it was random loops. For the final I kind of followed the loops more of where the body went and added more dragons.

Can you explain your reasoning behind using tracing paper to draw on? Is it the tracing paper that has given the lines that really bold effect? Or is it just the medium you drew with? Either way I jsut really love the way the dark bits stad out so strikingly.

Belated comment is belated. I mostly just use the tracing paper over my sketches to clean them up and tighten them.I do like that contrast of hazy/bold that tracing paper gives you and have been wanting to incorporate that look into a piece

The boat looks like it has all the right basic elements of a viking ship, but I dont know how they really looked historically either. The monster is really squiggly, maybe give him more definition and not just a whole bunch of...noodles XD

I know HOW they look, i can't draw one correctly at the angle I need it to be.
How should I give him more definition? I was was going to flesh it out, give him scales, belly scales, etc.

I think once you add the scales it'll look better. If I find any good viking ship reference pics I'll send them your way.
