Dunno man. I kinda lost faith. I haven't sculpt anything in like 2 years..
I'm hoping to get inspiration from my favorite modelers taking part in it.

You can go just strait oldschool modeling and just paint it. Sculpt is optional. Caitlin that i did last time and got 2 place didn't have any highpoly

But sculpt it self is a goal.
I can do it in Max, but it will be pointless since I want to git gud with ZB.
Did you work with Riot, as a second placed modeler? Did you receive "contract" or "invitation"?)

They even say in the rules that sculpt is optional. So you can do as cool kids do for Dota workshop - model, then go ZB and detail a bit
Take a part in it. It is fun and educational at the same time! lol
Nope Β
Tho i didn't ask, but that is another matter.Β

Oh, y, about fun. Why all modelers concider those types of contests fun? Like isn't simple additional job? Like you invest your own free time, sleep and maybe other resources to get what? Where is fun come from?

ugh... it is a showing off event. Say you do personal work and it's turned out good. But you have small amount of social media presence - it goes unnoticed. At least the chances of that are high. With such challenges you can have fun doing it, showing the progress, some advises maybe, maybe prizes. Anyways your work will be noticed by your peers as a minimum. And also it is a chance to get a better job, or freelance or whatever. Exposure
Next - philosophical moment. What is the artist life? You do art, you learn, you trying to get better and then you die. So the core of your living and life is doing art that bring you joy. pain, tears, struggle, sense of accomplishment, depression, happiness of doing good job and success. If you don't like all that, you better not go in art. If it is just the income and the way to get by with your life and pay the bills and nothing more on top of it - you need to change the job. There are easier and more nicer ways to live your life. Being an artist is a lifestyle.
So for me it is fun - challenge myself to do something and maybe take a place. Or maybe fail miserably Meet some people, show what i can do, work hard, think hard and create something that was not existing before but with my effort it is created. It is the fun for me. That is the only thing i can do and it is something that brings me joy and whole list of that emotions that i have named. So it is up to you. You can see it as a punishment and extra work, or you can see it as a chance to show what you can do to everybody and to yourself and maybe change something? Up to you
