Description
Celestial Armor is the top-tier (T9) reward in the new Paragon Rewards system, which launched as part of CITY OF HEROES FREEDOM. As such, we packed the set with as much cool stuff as we could think of. For starters, it's one of the first 'fantasy' themed sets in the game and one of the first to offer a ton of back details. The set features a large number of weapon options (not all shown here made the final cut), a cool riveted 'tights' layer, and all the latest texture FX (reflection, glow, etc.). As if that wasn't enough, Celestial comes with the game's first energy wings, which flow and undulate courtesy of our amazing FX team. All together, a pretty epic package that's worthy of the T9 distinction.Artistically, I was inspired by divine/religious iconography--hence the glows, light, and omega symbols spread throughout. Another little detail I enjoy is the power source on the firearms: a tiny pinpoint of white light. I was thinking of the baby universe that powers the Authority's carrier ship when I drew that, not that you'd ever guess it from the art.

I love this stuff. It's my got some of my favorite costume pieces in the game. (Chest piece and wings!) I really really really hope that bow will eventually come out.... It is rather epic.

Having another Celestial Armor option/expanded set in the VIP rewards when it returns again would be really sweet.

nedless to say the devs got lazy and some of this awesome didnt make it in...
that bow is so sweet and the hammer woulda been nice as a Titan weapon aswell as mace.

They weren't made. What you see here are just concepts, so sometimes things don't make the cut. However, we've got a new pipeline now where the concept and 3D come out closer then ever, so on T9 set 2 (Fire and Ice) you get almost everything shown.

Thats too bad because those two designs were awesome, we players really lack an option for noseless masks or faces.

I love this set so much! It's awe inspiring, and captures the essence of 'Uber-Hero' so much!
My only regret, is that we weren't able to get all of the pieces as intended. The Hammer and Axe look sweet on their own, and both the Shield and the Bow are incredible! I would also love to see a Katana done in this style someday.

This concept art is epic! So sad the bow didn't make it to the game. I would have gladly used it.
Curious though, is it possible to add a costume piece to a pack that people already own without requiring them to purchase the new piece separately? Just thinking how utterly epic a Celestial Titan Weapon would look. Or a Celestial staff.

Interesting question. We've never gone back to add pieces to existing themed sets, but it's a thought. Perhaps a pack with items themed to look like past sets (maybe organic armor claws, or celestial bow). Would be fun to concept.

I think you all should definitely look into that. Organic armor claws sounds great!
I'm not sure how you could go about selling it as a pack though. I guess if it was marketed as a way to fill in the gaps of previous packs? But then people would be asking why you couldn't just do what I said in my previous post. Though I know personally I would purchase a pack of that sort.
But especially with all of these new weapon-based sets being released, many sets just miss out. The Titan Weapon set misses out on having Vanguard and Rularuu options, on top of all the other options it could have had based on previous releases like the Celestial set. But that's just a suggestion, of course. I'm still loving all the work you guys are doing with the game. Keep it up!

I've seen people with the wings and that shoulder ring and they look soooooo amazing in game. They look amazing blue.

Fairly soon, it's going back into the 'Paragon Vault' and a new Tier 9 set--Fire and Ice--will be introduced. It's arguably even more stuffed-to-the-gills with unique pieces, but yeah, the Celestial Armor won't be available much longer. It will be back, I imagine, but I'm not sure when or how.

Very nice. I've seen a few people with the silver on yellow color in game. The silver comes out a bit washed but it's still a great set that works well.

Well... I went and paid a good bit of money on points just so I could unlock this. >.> I'll keep the actual amount to myself but just realize that you guys made a good choice making this the first Tier 9 VIP costume set to entice people to work towards it quickly. Mission complete!

Well, we surely appreciate it, and it's definitely as rare and 'leet' as anything's ever been in the game. I certainly take notice when someone wearing Celestial walks by!
