Description
Here's one from the archives, but a piece I'm still fond of. It's the cover for a series I did back in 2003 called PROXIMITY EFFECT. The story involves a struggling musician named Lisa who finds herself with super-powers whenever she's within 30 feet of her 'source,' a drifter named Caleb.Pencils and inks: me
Colors: Steve Firchow
Why the Peavey guitar, you ask? Well, the marketing team behind this comic had some ideas about cross-promotional product placement, which is why you'll see a few well-known logos strategically places throughout the series (including Peavey, Carl's Jr., Volkswagon, and more).
Another unusual feature of PE was it's initial release as an online comic. Top Cow released issue #s 1 and 2 for free over the web, and you could read the conclusion in the tpb, which collected the entire series, along with tons of DVD-style extras.
It's the first comic I ever headlined, so it's got a special place in my heart.

You're kidding me! I love that comic and have a copy of the TBP! It's awesome to find out you have a DA and even a soft spot for PE in your heart. Seriously fun comic!

Hey, thanks! It's always such a blast when people bring that to me at a convention.

You forgot to mention the tradepaperback also came with a music CD, Silvestri poster, and kickass Top Cow Tour shirt.
But mostly, I enjoyed the book. Especially since it the ending made it seem like the serious was gonna keep going. Another decent idea laid to waste.

That's true! It did come with a ton of goodies when you bought it from the Top Cow convention booth.
And I've actually read a script breakdown for a sequel, though sadly I don't see the book coming out anytime soon (read: 'ever').
btw, did you know that the book's writer, Aron Coliete, now works on the TV series HEROES as one of the key writers? Pretty cool, huh?

Y'know, my brother was tellin me about the show and told me about a character that actually gains other peoples abilities when in there proximity and thought "That sounds familiar" lol. Now it all makes sense. And now no one has to go and get there knees broken.
.....I definitely gotta see that show.
Too about the sequel to the book though. Maybe sometime in the future. Top Cow seems to like to go back alot and retouch on things. So I suppose theres always a chance.
Or who names. Maybe Lisa and Caleb'll show up in another title sometime.

Wow--so glad you enjoyed it! I'm a little embarrased by some of my drawing mistakes on that title, but thankfully that didn't stop you!

There is a tpb, actually. It collects issues 1-3, plus covers, 10 pages of sketches, a brand-new back-up story, and more. I pretty sure you can buy it on Amazon, but honestly, it's my first book, so you may be underwhelmed.
