Description
Yeah this is the one after I had added the seeds, and had just finished sculpting the tail. Actually I had done the seeds and baked, this was just the tail. I painted the whole tail with fimo deco gel to add strength and hopefully flexibility. I let it soak in for a day before I actually baked it. That and I was busy with my life. Totally intentional though XDRelated content

Thank you very much ^)^ I like at the end seeing the progress even and how depending on the sculpt that the paint job brings life to the piece. But being able to see where the forms came from is so cool too :3

How do you paint that when youre done sculpting? Looks like it would be hard to get into all the places

It'll be done in layers. So sceptile will be painted almost entirely green first apart from the tip of its tail and its seeds.
As will the base. It'll be in a different green though. Then i'll add the yellow to the seeds, and the red to the features. I'll paint the branch on the base in a solid brown.
After all the base layers are done i'll add more. Sceptile will be finished pretty much because he is a cartoon character and I haven't stylised him, so he'll be all bold block colours. The base will be different though. I'll use dark washes and then dry brush it until it looks very realistic. I'll do the same to the branch on the ground too. Because its split open, part of it will be painted in yellowish and cream hues to show the inside of the tree.
And yes its going to be a pain in the ass to paint all of it and do it well XD I'm not gonna lie. But it'll be so worth it. Especialy f I manage to auction it off.

Yeah, I always hated painting because it was so time consuming, and there would always be stupid little hairs that got in the paint haha
Anyway, looks cool, it'll look awesome with solid colors, would probably contrast well with the detailed base

I'm not the greatest fan of it either, but working with sculpey is a lot easier for big sculpting purposes then the likes of fimo, and thats the reason i paint. Also its hard to keep coloured clay clean, and getting dust on a piece can really ruin a lot of hard work. I have fund though that using sculpey for jewellery is a no go because its FAR too brittle.
I'm hoping so too. Hahah the base wont be that detailed, but i'm trying to not make it too cartoony.
