Pants are for dorks again I see.
What I really like in both this and the other one is how the background color is part of her color scheme and there's no separation between them, but the other colors give the impression of an edge where there isn't one. If that makes any sense. Also both their personalities come across well in these.

in Angelesti's opinion, pants (or skirts I guess since I redesigned her to be 'girlier') are always for dorks
and yes, what you're saying made sense... that they have big chunks missing from where the background is visible but their skin and/or shirt strips give the illusion it is in fact not missing... yeah, I think there's no way to phrase that without sounding weird.
