I think the lighting and shading here is really pretty. The night sky and the blue shadows on the character give it a cool atmosphere to me, but then the warm light the character is holding adds some interesting contrast. The character's facial expression looks thoughtful or even sad to me, so I think that cool atmosphere fits well. I also love the depth in this piece created by how far away the city in the background looks.
