Description
Sometimes there comes a point when its time to abandon ship, so to speak. Its late, and while I was definately going for cute and cartoony, this turned out more bubblegum than I had hoped. Not sure I like it, so I'm going to bed...Used Adobe ps7 to color and pasted a lot of textures. 8ish hours. Lineart was micron on Strathmore400 9x12

Hmmm, I've never liked bubblegum that much, but I like this a great deal. Go figure. I wonder if the "bubblegum" notion is due to all of the colors being real bright and intense? It seems to me that having them all so intense pits them all against each other and neutralizes them all to some degree, and so it "works." Ah well. This colored version certainly doesn't disappoint.

You're welcome. What you saw in your head seems to have produced something cool.

Love this doc! One of my favs from you and an instant fav. Speaking of favs, now if we fav here in the club, does it automatically fav it from your personal gallery, too? Or do I need to go fav it from your gallery. Hope that made sense.

Hiya
MY suggestion would be to tone down the white highlights on all areas except the metal parts where it needs more.
She has come off looking a bit to shiny, like porcelain.
I really like the colours themselves though, including the rosy blush to her skin.
Also, though I am sure you know, the background could use a bit more work, a horizon with sea underneath and sky above (sorry, I guess that last bit was unnessesary as the other way around would be silly)
Finally, I'm glad I'm not the one who got the job of tatooing the wyvern
Keep up the good work. The details are splendid.

I dunno why I'm whining... I wanted it to pop in terms of color and highlight... its hard to say. The background I left intentionally blah, to focus on the girl. I can see how it might come off as lazy or incomplete, though. Yeah, the fun part was the little details. Thanks for the comments!

I only wish I was half as prolific as you. I have had artist's block for a year running now.

Thank you so much for that.
There is truth in the saying that 'if you want to get good at something, you should do it every day'.
I've looked up the book online and I will definetely have to read it.
This quote struck a chord with me:
βTo all viewers but yourself, what matters is the product-- the finished artwork. To you, and you alone, what matters is the process.β
Art and Fear, page 5.
I think it will help me a great deal to be less hung up on how the finished piece will look to others and more playful with techniques.
Thanks again
