Description
Been working on this one for a little while, and I wanted it to show. I love the Victorian age, classical music, steam engines – that era and ethos, and I am an admitted romantic, so this is my little ode to that. Whether or not this is Victorian London, the Old West, or whereever, I shall leave to the viewer. Is the serenade between acquaintances, is she intrigued by the music he plays, or by the man…?I plan to do some more like this or in other mediums down the road, but this is the big project for the moment. More practice and experience using good inking techniques. I’m pleased with how it turned out. I have to find or make the perfect reference photos, and this one took some time to track down and then incorporate into a good composition, but I am, in the end, SO pleased and must extend a hearty thanks to the dA community for making such great images and inspiration available, especially (obviously) the below stock accounts. In Any case, this was also partially a bet to myself - My dad saw my latest works this past winter and said, "Don't you like Victoriana?" "Of course - you know I do," I replied. At which point he rightly pointed out that none of my art reflected that, so I started composing ideas for this, and here it is...
15-20 hours, pen & ink (micron) on 81/2 x 11ish paper (my dimensions are never perfect).

Sorry it took so long to reply on this one...
Well, I've never 'officially' been in the comic business. I've self-published two issues of a comic book of Hero-Lore, but when the one comic distributor in the US didn't pick that up, I wrote it as a novel instead (www.hero-lore.com <-- where you can still buy the comics ). I've been drawing only bondage comics for a pay-site for over 5 years now, in between other projects.

First off, in terms of drawing, and mediums, this looks amazing Real quality work here ;D On the other hand, i really don't get what it is.. but then again i was too lazy to read the actual bio DX And other than that there's really nothing to critique :/ Lines are good, texture is good, shadow's are good, good job

Thanks, much appreciated, as always.
and no worries... For some reason, this one seems to be getting overlooked - maybe I thought I was hitting a broad arena with the subject(s), only to have it fall into a niche I love the fiished piece, but perhaps few 'get' victoriana or something... glad you stopped by to comment, though

Ironically, that engine is more late 1930s/early 1940s.
But still, nice job, and a neat use of my photo!

I'll end up buying the print of this one, too, you can bet. I'll get one the same dimensions as "Mainline" and put them next to each other in the new house--that'll be totally cool.
This is good, Scott. Your attention to detail shows patience and understanding, like you were treating the drawing as a personal acquaintance and interest. Yep, it shows a loving hand, and that's cool. Very nice work, and a definite favorite from me--almost anytime a sexy-dressed woman is looking behind her, it's gonna' spark some kind of idea in my head, you can bet...
(You see, I think the musician is gonna' tie her to the tracks, Snidely Whiplash style...).

And then along came John...
"Curses, foiled again!"
Well, I'm glad you like it - its a great compliment that you want the print as well, so Thanx. Patience for the long projects I got - when I set my mind at it, its 'this one; long as it takes.' This makes others the short-winded fun ones in between. Yeah, I like it alot. Wife says its my best, but somehow Mainline feels more personal still... In Any case, this was also partially (I just remembered this) a bet to myself - My dad saw my latest works this past winter and said, "Don't you like Victoriana?" "Of course - you know I do." At which point he rightly pointed out that none of my art reflected that, so I started composing ideas for this, and here it is

Sounds like an excellent Father's Day gift in the making... You are very welcome. "Diseased" is my next purchase; the print is sitting in my shopping cart right now, and I'll get it when we've moved into the new place (hopefully within the next month).
This'll be in the next batch after that.

Thanks - It is much appreciated.
I hope more people notice it - so far its not got the fanfare I'd hoped given the work I put into it But that's just my ego talking...

In my experience, Naked Woman = Double Pageviews and Fanfare of No Naked Woman...
I, personally, think that this is as good as Mainline and Diseased. You're welcome.

...if you're saying I should draw a naked woman next to boost more people seeing 'Concerto', I'm way ahead of you One of hopefully 2 new M&M ideas is on the drawing board...

shouldn't you be busy illustrating books somewhere?
maybe Sci-fi westerns.
it's good work
I worked at a Steam Train Museam and their is nothing romantic about scraping grease and sandblasting old metal.
But once they are in motion they are something else.
I love pullman carriages,

Thanks for the compliments - very much appreciated. With luck, a couple of my illustrations will indeed see print in a book this year ('Steel Dragon' and 'Diseased').
Well, my actual experience with locomotives is limited to a couple rides and lots of staring - they just look cool. Take me back to a time I never lived
THANKS
