Description
This Hero Lore piece is my FIRST real attempt at coloring my work in Photoshop 7, completed just minutes before submitting it here! So, I welcome input, but please be kind, as I'm new (blush). Anyway, the line art was done with my tech pens on paper about 2002. My wife found a cool tutorial for coloring for me this week, and I had today off, so I gave it a shot. Colored using mostly channels in Adobe PS7, with layers added in the end for textures, and finally the logo (I'm putting a non-flared/logoed version in scrap for comparison). The character is Hero, from my series Hero-Lore ( [link] ), Last of the Triialon and central figure to the series, as you might have guessed. I'm pretty excited about how it turned out, so I get the feeling I'll be trying more of this soon, perhaps with pencilled work as well.Related content

Thanks... and I explained my use of the lens flare above.... I'm hoping to spend some real time on the next piece like this, unlike the sketches

okay.. the lens flare has to go. it's not a good thing to use UNLESS you know how to handle it. not saying you didn't do it right. but it looks weird. great use of colors. and wonderfully drawn person. Keep up the great work

Considering that's your first, that's come out really well - you've got a really natural comic-book style skin tone, and the rest of the pic (even the background) came out really nicely too! Well done!

Nice work... pretty good for a first time in Photoshop *remembers what his first attempts looked like*
Just one thing... the lens flare... it's so horribly clichΓ© I know when I first tried in Photoshop I just had to use it too, but you're really better of not using it

Well, there is power that is suppossed to radiate off of the blade itself, so it seemed like a logical first-time way to convey that idea. I hadn't drawn in anything else, like lightning or trailing plasma crap or anything, to color in, so I used the flare *shrug*. You can see it without in my SCRAPS section...
