I'm in a pirate mood of late - probably has something to do with the Renaissance Festival here in Phoenix for the next two months. I wanted to draw some more figures and romance as well, but I'll leave the actual nature of the relationship between these two up to you, the viewer... there are so many possibilities, given the pose alone. Awesome textures and values on this. The wood is "grainy." The coat is "velvety." The lace is "lacey." And so forth. I like how dark and solid he is and how light and veiled she is. And I think you're right about this suggesting many different styles of relationships between the two of them--having seen a lot of your other work, I'm inclined to see this one a bit differently, and suspect that she is completely enjoying the attention he is being forced to lavish on her by her looks and motion...

Thanks... been missing comments and faves, especially yours, while I've been working my comic pages, so I'm churning out a couple projects that are 'simple yet elegant,' I hope. I think these two are becoming lovers, but she's still unsure, and he's still dominant - ya know, typical 'bodice ripper'. I'm happy the textures turned out - that was certainly a goal. Thanks!

Thanks... I think so too. Being me, I see this as a scene of sudection. A moot point, really, as she seems to be on HIS ship, probably at sea... I like how the original stock pose suggests bondage without actually defining it, but it could just as easily be the top move in a shared moment, so I hope it finds various messages with other viewers...
