Description
Dude on the right, that's Liquid Max. Liquid Max is what you call a cyberspace cowboy -- a netrunner, you know? It's computers.Dude on the left, now...that is most certainly not LM's buddy Shiv. Shiv looks different; really I drew him first and added Max later. The colors, background and all that jazz came later still.
These two live in The Lightstrip, a retrofuture cyberpunk neverwhere that's equal parts Blade Runner, "Burning Chrome", Streets of Fire, The Warriors and the first four years of MTV. I could talk a LOT about The Lightstrip, Liquid Max, Shiv and their fellow inhabitants Caroline Four-Five-Two, 'Slinger, Aspasia, The Trance, Olie Nordberg, Ringo Khaddaffi, Grace Soroyama and all the other stuff, buuuuut...
...not now.

Can't lie - the moment I see "Streets of Fire," I just want to start hyper-dancing. [link]
I do get a Blade Runner feel from it. One of my all-time favorite movies.

Different Streets of Fire, though. This one's this one. [link]
FASCINATING FACT: Blade Runner + Streets of Fire x Japan = "Bubblegum Crisis". Seriously, look it up.

Oh, yeah. What's going on here? Well...long time ago I dreamed up the idea of drawing some minicomics about Shiv and his disastrous misadventures on The Lightstrip. I never did it becuase I am lazy and stupid, but the plot was simple:
There's a new club on the Strip called "!" (yes, just like that). Liquid Max, who is very gregarious and communal, really wants to go. He doesn't want to go alone, so he pesters his friend Shiv into going with him. Shiv is not gregarious, and also he has a smart mouth that gets him in trouble a lot...but he's a pushover for Max, so he agrees. This, naturally, leads to girl trouble, girl's boyfriend trouble, lots of running, getting shot at and the sorts of cheerful misadventures that suggest themselves thereby.
Of course that I got distracted, never developed it and...uh...
No science fiction in it, despite it being a cyberpunk setting, but then again The Lightstrip was never just about cyberpunk.
