And now one of my favorite event legendary Pokemon has its turn to become a Sailor Senshi. It is a Bug/Steel type with a base stat total of 600, and was the ultimate hunter in ancient times. It has the ability Download, which raises its Attack or Special Attack depending on which Defense stat on its target is weaker. It was revived from a fossil, technologically enhanced by Team Plasma to be the strongest of all. However, before modifications were complete, N demanded the project be terminated and the laboratory shut down. However, Team Plasma’s scientist Dudley continued working on it in secret. He installed the cannon on Genesect’s back, and added compartments that could give it an elemental property. It is the only Pokemon that can learn Techno Blast, and it got buffed in Gen VI with higher strength. You have been warned.
Remember when I said that Bug types got a power boost come Gen V? Genesect is living proof of that. In fact, Genesect is the only Bug type legendary. While sharing a type combo with Scizor (thus being very flammable), it has much higher stats, and will ruin anyone’s day that stares it down without a fire attack. If you invade its territory, I hope you’ve signed your will. We’ll miss you. Genesect won’t. Genesect was available briefly following the release of B2/W2, and I got one. Even its name sounds badass. Bulbapedia might say different, but as far as I’m concerned, Genesect’s name is a portmanteau of “genocide” and “insect.” Most Pokedex entries mention it was feared as the ultimate hunter. Don’t believe me? Say that to its face when that cannon is charging up and it’s pointed at your head. Imagine a five-foot tall cockroach wearing knight’s armor and has a cannon on its back able to punch holes in anything. They don’t make shoes big enough to squash those!
Sailor Genesect was designed to resemble Samus Aran, particularly her alternate costume from the original game (Justin Bailey anyone?), and I found an excellent model for this picture, mentioned below. Also, I had been playing a lot of Metroid Prime Trilogy, and was thus inspired to make Sailor Genesect as much of a badass as my favorite bounty hunter girl. She also has the visor worn by Sailor Mercury, which I changed red to match Genesect’s eyes. It even has the same function: scanning enemies and her surroundings, and for improving her aim. This is also how she can identify which element you’re weak against, and apply that element to her weapon. And since she is based on one of Nintendo’s hottest and most badass bounty hunters, what better weapon to give her than an arm cannon? As far as she’s concerned, she doesn’t need a sword or a wand to get things done. She prefers to shoot them down, and her accuracy is unparalleled.
Just like Samus (particularly the Metroid Prime series), she can change the element of Techno Blast at will. She can do this by activating one of the drives located on the top of the arm cannon, causing it to change color depending on which one she uses. The Burn Drive allows her to fire superheated bursts that can incinerate enemies or set them on fire for gradual damage. The Chill Drive fires absolute zero cold at her enemies, which can freeze them instantly. Charging this up expands the freeze radius, which can freeze multiple enemies close together. She likes using this followed by a kick from her iron-tipped boots, which often shatters them in one hit. The Shock Drive makes her shoot lightning, which can stun enemies. Charged, no pun intended, shots can track their targets. The Dowse Drive lets her fire high pressure water at her targets. It travels along the ground, and can seep through the smallest holes to find its target. Not equipping any drives makes the projectiles non elemental, and she can fire it much faster than if she used a Drive, though it isn't as powerful.
Attacks:
Techno Blast: Sailor Genesect fires a projectile of pure energy at her target. Depending on which Drive she has equipped, it is either non-elemental, fire, ice, water, or lightning based. Either one can also be charged up for extra firepower.
X-Scissor: Sailor Genesect creates a blade of energy with her other hand and strikes her target twice very quickly, as if cutting them with scissors.
Hyper Beam: Sailor Genecest focuses all her energy into her arm cannon and unleashes a high intensity laser beam on her target. This attack penetrates defensive shielding, buffs, and most surfaces. After the attack finishes, her arm cannon overheats, and must cool down before firing it again.
