Alexa “Lex” Washington unknowingly got injected with an experimental serum developed by the corrupt Burke Technologies Inc. that gave humans extraordinary powers (provided they survive and didn't die slowly and agonizingly). It gave her powers that allowed her to phase through solid matter. After she discovered her powers, she would master them and later become the superhero Spectress!
