Description

I had been trying to pretty this up for a while now, with little success. So I decided to simply post it here as it is. It's basically the map of Miasina that I posted here way earlier, but with state borders overlayed on top of it and some labels. I used white color for the borders since black ones made the whole thing seem uglier to me. I'm aware the borders are a little hard to see in the north of the continent, but hopefully it's not too much.

Some descriptions:

Nelentar: This is the country Neolu is from. It's one of the biggest, richest, and most powerful of the Xlotic states. It was once a part of the Umani-Re River Valley, where the Ikosian civilization began, and is very proud of this fact. This is why it deserves to be the leader of everyone in the region! Alas, its neighbors don't agree.

Aranhal: This is the country whose airship Zach and Zorian stole at one point in the story. A proud nation, but one full of internal divisions.

Mezner: The country that helped Aranhal recover its airship. Or well, tried to. They are by no means friends of Aranhal, and in fact the quarrel a lot, but it's not some irreconcilable conflict.

Nosikan Underground Cities: Not a human state. Arguably not a state at all. This is where the pillbug armadillo people live. For those of you reading my worldbuilding blog, this is also where the magic elephants that hate people live. The elephants live on the surface, the Nosikans make their homes underground. Nosikans don't have any quarrel with the elephants, and they keep the humans away, so they're content to leave the surface to them.

Jasuka: This city state is the main port that ships land in when coming from the north, and they have gotten very wealthy off it. They are fairly small, even by the standards of Koth states, so they try to remain neutral and play off other countries against each other in an effort to stay independent.

Haramao: A fairly powerful Koth state. This is where the Taramatula estate is, and where Daimen is staying at the beginning of the story.

Taramatula: The magical bee-keepers. Not a state obviously, just an idnicator of their general location within Haramao.

Dai Hurna: Also known as Green Hell. Scary place full of monsters, like a section of your typical death world somehow transported here. Not that any wild place in Ersetu is particularly safe, and I'm sure some would describe it in entirety as a sort of Death World lite.

Strange East: The eastern part of the continent has always had a reputation for being strange and filled with odd, even disturbing things. What kind of things? Uhh... things. See, I always wanted to fill this part of the continent with something meaningful, but it wasn't really important for the story and there are so many more important regions to think about. So Strange East is, for now, a giant question mark. I do know it contains a large number of ancient ruins - ones predating the Ikosian civilization by a long shot. By the time Ikosia rose to prominence, the ruins here were already ancient, and no one knew who built them. Attempts to colonize the coast here have met disastrous results - one city simply lost all of its people in one night, everyone seemingly vanished without a trace when the traders tried to dock its ports one day. For this reason, it is also sometimes known as the cursed coast. However, a number of expeditions have explored the region and failed to find anything truly sinister, so there are people claiming this is all just superstition. A new colony is planned to be established soon...
