Description
First pass at some starter Pokémon ideas, right now I have a few sketches for the first stages and a single drawing each for the final stages.
The fire type is based on the Catahoula Leopard Dog but with elements of leopards, an Egyptian leopard goddess, and the fire leopard boa, also making a connection with the Mesopotamian Serpopard.
The grass type is based off the American Black Bear as well as their fondness for crops such as corn and apples, the latter serves as a topping for cornbread therefore the line may take elements of cornbread into it. On top of this they have the inspiration of the Spirit Bears and the mythological belief that the Black Bear was a guide.
The water type has the least amount of inspiration so far, it is based on the mud puppy, an amphibian similar to a axolotls, as such I’ve tried to differentiate it from mudkip as I thought there may be accidental similarities. I also gave it droopy dog ear like gills to add to the puppy inspiration. Another idea I had was sirens, the name for both the Greek mythological creature as well as the amphibians of the same name. As the fire starter will most likely be quadrupedal, and the grass starter will be able to be quadrupedal or bipedal (or will walk with a staff), I thought the water starter could evolve to be bipedal.
