Got your 3DS yet?It's pretty cool, things don't seem to pop out, just add more depth so far. Every now and then though, a new screen will appear (a video included in the European/UK 'first update', has a shot of a blue flower in particular) and I just can't focus properly on it. Maybe I've got dodgy eyes or something, who knows.
Anyway, if you haven't seen any Don Hertzfeldt's animations, I suggest you go look him up.
Wish I knew what their proper names are...

Heh, I really like his little dude when he pops up in the AR games (from playing my girlfriends shiny new 3DS), hope we see him in some other stuff from nintendo.

From what I can tell, adjusting your view until there's only one picture seems to clear up things, but it's a bit of an eye strainer. Hopefully things will get better the more we play.
Also reading your description, I assume you also thought things would pop out?

Having that slider even a little bit on 3D is surprisingly effective, it's where I leave it most of the time. Helps with the battery life aswell, only ever turning it off for the Augmented Reality games where you physically have to move around those cards since the 3D effect sweet spot is quite small.
Yeah I just thought 'oh it's 3D without glasses', and didn't think anymore of it. Gotta say though, it makes all the crap on my desk look amazing!

I hear that no matter how strong you have the 3D slider, it takes the same battery life. Also it's not so hard once you get the hang of it. It's fun!

He appears when you use the AR Card functions, I believe.
On the 3DS main menu, you can see him when you select the "AR GAMES" option, as well.
