Description

STARTING:

Canvas size : 175 x 175, can strech it out if the character needs more space. Personally, I always start with a sketch of the eyes, not the head, not the full pose, just eyes. Then after im done with them, i start sketching the body/pose! I prefer to sketch the pixel doll with Acrylic/Airbrush set on 1.0

this one is the Acrylic brush i use!

When the character is really complicated, I prefer to keep things simple. You can see that this character has a lot of belts, well, just draw straight lines for them. We'll detail it later.

the important part is lineart - the problem with pixel is to keep it clean (especially for me, lol)

I always color the lineart inside the character! for example, single strands of hair, face, and etc
 (colored lineart, clean lineart)

COLORING:

to fill up the place where any color needs to be

Never forget about this thing! it lets you pick colors and mix them, which is really useful for pixelart, especially when the character you want to draw has some gradient on them. for example this tail, helpful, isn't it?

SHADING:

when your'e done with coloring and start shading, remember to change the opacity of the binary brush! It helps you create more subtle shades using the same color!

close to the ENDING:
when you're done with shading, its time for you to merge all the layers. When you do that, your'e close to finishing the art! But still, you need to play with the details of the character, for example in this one it was their coat, belts, basically everything that would need more attention!    in this pixel, the details were the flowers. I always do the small things later so I can focus not on the small things at the beggining, but on the overall art!

THE END:
when your'e done with everything

- make a white outline! add some stars, SHINY!!!!!
-you can re-size the pixel to the 2x the size it originally is. I use photoshop to do that! (Image -> Image size -> Settings!  )

basically, its the end!!
i hope it will be useful, im bad at explaining things

sadly i'm not sure, I have looked just now at some online image resizers  but they're all leaving the pixels blurry upon resizing : c

Wow it sounds like one of the best tutorials out there and thanks for showing the sketch too, I've always wondered if it looked messy and pixelish but it kinda does so I'm relieved it's normal.
Also thanks for so much steps and details, even for the tools , it's really helpful !
I hope I'll be able to do something decent now, and if I do, I'll ofc credit you for so much help ;w;

Oh god thank you!! Itt's my first time creating a tutorial so I wasn't sure how this is gonna turn out, but somebody asked me to and i was like 'why not?'
And ye! The sketches are a big mess, it takes so much time to actually make one, since its all about erasing and sketching the same thing again!
And aa <3  I would love to see it ! ♥♥
