Description
This is the second project I have undertaken for Graphic ideas, and it was completed last week (25th January 2007). This terms project theme was Calendars, and how the calendars we see around us everyday show flatly a year of our lives! The Brief was to create a calendar that was far more visually exciting, entertaining and showed how people moved through a year, mapping time and measuring it against other factors!
The motivation for my calendar sprouted again from another personal feature, one which I’m not proud of- My lack of organisation! I decided to use this calendar as a means of becoming a more organised person, setting challenges for myself each month and keeping a tally of the things I’d done! I thought an interesting way of setting this calendar out would be a board game format, starting on January 1st and finishing on December 31st, each day I would move the playing piece (a little me) on 1 space, 1 day! No dice involved in this game! And each day I would have to record in a little tally book I created what the month had asked me to achieve! I also recorded special family birthdays which are shown with a bright yellow flashing box, and a special orange box which gave me something to learn to do that month by picking up an achievement card!
I had problems with the Brief to begin with, as I wasn’t sure how to approach it, and whether I was fulfilling it with the route I was taking! But I thoroughly enjoyed creating the game board and objects that went with it! And it was well received when I presented it at the Critique on Thursday!
Hope You Like
(And if you want to see the other parts please let me know and I’ll try and post them!)

Very, very creative take on the brief. I'm sure others were impressed by your board game concept. Visually, I really dig the whole vintage style. Over all I am very impressed, especially by the concept.
