Description
Every so often, a close bunch of friends and I will get sick of the hustle and bustle of Christmas and go against the grain by NOT buy each other gifts for Christmas.Instead, we'll do something together as a group. One year we spent Christmas Eve snowboarding, with a subsequent early morning Christmas at the hospital because one of them broke an ankle (good times!). And a few years ago we rented a cabin and went to the Grand Canyon. (Totally wicked idea, I must say)
We actually coined this our "Christmas Resistance." We didn't reject the holidays, just the fact that it's become so commercial and all about buying crap that the other person might just tuck away in the closet. The point being we spent time just being together; eating, talking, drinking, etc.
We found this more memorable and rehash it over and over as the years go by. I don't know why we don't do it more often...

that is by far the best christmas/holidays related thing i've ever seen. and the idea behind it was spiffy too.

The true spirit of this season indeed! Be with friends/family and have a good time. Personally, I give a damn about the gift-buying. If I do have cash, though, I'll get some kickass toys for friends' kids. No more, no less.
That snowboarding experience sounds killer!

Love it!
..I just wished you had your own personal watermark that might actually lend itself to the piece more artistically than that distracting DA one.

Just wondering, what font is used for the text on the green ribbon on the bottom?

Oh jeez, don't remind me...I've been watching the cartoon and live action movie at least 7x each because my son loves them.

fabulous!
have a nice turkey-lurkey time, no matter how you spendit - i try and avoid the over commercializations, but then find a trip to the store takes three hours!

Looks great, I like the concept behind it too
I like the giving aspect of christmas, to an extent. It means family can gather together and you can see people you don't see very often, and you also get to give and recieve. I make sure I know what people want, so I don't just end up giving 'crap that the other person might just tuck away in the closet', and on the whole all my family gives thoughtful presents too.
Though I am against the rampant commercialisation of Christmas, with all the terrible TV ads and ridiculous gimmicky things marketed as the perfect present - the dancing reindeers, the santa shoe horns etc.
I reckon what you've been doing is a great idea, and I'd like to try that. Maybe next xmas...
