Description
With the passing of the Queen and the crowning of the new King William and Queen Kate, Kate forced the complete gender integration of the Guards Brigade including the Grenadier Guards stationed to secure Buckingham Palace. William was completely against the idea but eventually relented after several weeks of being denied his Kingly privileges by Kate. In the process he made numerous comments in the press disparaging women. This infuriated Kate. Eventually William relented (have you seen Kate? Can you believe he held out several hours much less weeks?!). Kate insisted that she be allowed to design the new uniforms. William insisted that the only changes to the uniform Kate could make was the footwear. Kate agreed. The agreement did not preclude deletions from the uniform nor undergarments. Kate had her revenge on the King and the tourists were treated to an even more memorable photo opportunity on the palace grounds as this young Corporal of the Grenadier Guards demonstrates.

Beautiful work Ms. Donna, and in your photorealistic style! The lighting, the textures of the fabric of her uniform, and leather of her boots, even their buckles are brought to life so well, its only the fantastic nature of the subject that would ever cause the eye to doubt the reality of it. Nice inclusion of hat and gun behind her and those boots, I love their design. The play of light from shining on her and into the guard booth does give that impression of a long day, which is shown on her face, weary of what is going on, with the grains seen more in shadow of the material of the interior of the booth. Taking a chance with the story, it added to the image of why this Guard might indeed be weary as she suffers from and for King and Queen instead of Country.

Thank you Robert. The weapon textures are not great..kind of a disappointment, and I chose in the interest of time not to mess with them since its a background prop. At some point I will feature the SA80 rifle and will try to fix that.

A somewhat natural tourist could enjoy the beautiful guards, as being neglected, a cloth with bleach and load on your shoulder, the bored young and that's where the fun begins ...

Lovely punning title, to match the lovely image
Being very, ever-so picky ... the collar badge is of the Grenadiers, but the jacket (as shown by the buttons looks to be Coldstream). Can't see the colour or position of the plume on the bearskin (white and left for Grenadiers)

Glad you liked the image Simon and I know the buttons...but i chose to be lazy and not fix all of those tiny buttons in post work!
I must say that it makes me happy to know viewers scrutinize all the little details...and it encourages me to put as many of them in as time allows! Thank you!
