Description
The company of women mounted grenadiers of Napoleon's Imperial Guard is another of those elite female military units lost to history. The cavalry unit was formed as a result of the new and enlightened role of women in society inspired by the French Revolution.

This company of horsewomen was recruited from the most beautiful and talent horsewomen in all of France. They were part of the Emperor's personal bodyguard but were only on duty at night -- as the Emperor did not want to flaunt the unique role of women in his army (there may have been other more personal reasons for the unique evening duty role but those remain undocumented). This unique organization was particularly effective in reconnaissance as they were easily disguised and could travel fast and unseen deep into enemy territory. Many historians suspect that some of Napoleon's most famous victories were the result of intelligence gained by these intrepid women warriors.

*Note-- The descriptions of the female warriors are all factitious but mixed with real history. In this case, the Grenadiers à Cheval de La Garde Impériale was the senior cavalry regiment of Napoleon's Imperial Guard cavalry and a favorite of the Emperor. The uniform used for this character is very close to the actual uniform worn.
