Thanks! I'm actually going to use him and 8 more characters I'm working on (who are sculpted in the same style) to make a stop motion styled comic, with all hand built characters, props and sets.

I actually used the same technique they used in Coraline and in the upcoming Paranorman to make my expressions, I first modeled his face in clay then I used photos of the clay sculpt to make a computer model in z-brush then i added controllers to the face model to create all of the expressions, then I exported digital files to be printed on a 3-D printer. Heres a youtube video showing basically the same technique I use [link] the only difference is I don't coat my prints in Isocyanate (superglue) instead I prime my 3-D prints sand them smooth and then make molds from them then cast them in resin.

Omg that really does sound neat i cant wait to see the comic ^_^!! I love the idea of stop motion for ball jointed type dolls and figures i just think stop motion and them go hand in hand because you can make them do almost any pose and if you have the facial expression you can make the come to life.

Oh wow!! thanks for the info on them that's really interesting ill be looking into the video soon! Iv been interested in making BJD i actually got some La doll because i heard scuply clay would be a bit more difficult. I love your style by the way it makes me feel like a comic book character jumping out of a book ^__^ i love it! Do you plan on selling your figures ?
