Description
I've had spades molds done for about a month now and managed to cast and paint a single prototype for display at the pacific northwest BJD convention BUT I didnt have time to finish his costume (aside from his gloves, boots and hat), his final costume is this futuristic armored bodysuit with a post apocalyptic/western flair to it, its actually rather complicated and wont be finished for a few months. When I finally dressed him in the only finisehd parts of his costume i joked that he looked like a stripper, everyone at the convention loved stripper Spade so i decided to write it into his backstory.
In Spade’s downtime (being a bad ass bounty hunter Isn’t the most stable source of income), he’s a stripper
Since I really haven’t taken any good photos of him since I finished him, I built a set/lit it and took these finished pics. I'll be posting three from the photoshoot pics on here. The full set of 6 high res images (plus a HD wallpaper) Is an extra downloadable reward for our $4 and up Patrons on our Patreon page.(patreon link)---> www.patreon.com/break_step_vel…
I think everyone will be happy with the finished Spade doll! He poses better than any doll I’ve ever made, especially with his boots on! They are broad with a lot of surface area that makes him extremely stable. I actually left him standing unsupported during the entire photoshoot and he didn’t fall over once.
Spade like all my dolls is 100% handmade by myself, I sculpted him digitally from scratch, jointed him in ZBrush and then uploaded my finisehd models to Shapeways to print his master parts, I then sanded and finished the 3d prints to give them a perfect smooth finish. I then created silicone molds form them and cast his final pieces in urethane resin, To finish his cast parts parts I sanded them then painted them using a combination of airbrush, brushed acrylics, and pastels. The finisehd parts i then strung with elastic cord to hold them tightly at the joints so that he is fully poseable.

Im really glad you like the pics, Its been soo long since Ive taken nice photos of any of my guys/gals it was really nice to finally take some pics that look like a finished scene, and do some experiments with lighting and image processing. Its also encouraging me to go back and try to do some short comc setups with dolls again... hmmmmm
