Description This is one of many diagrams that i have done this semester for my Environmental Analysis class. It is kind of a abstract 2D representation of the layout and design process.

The Villa Savoye is built out in the country in France. Corbusier wanted the building to be open to the outdoors; he was able to do this due to stronger materials such as reinforced concrete. With these new materials he was able to erect columns (black dots) on a grid as the structure, and around the structure have long horizontal windows. He was also able to open up some ceilings and walls totally to the outside to create open decks and sunrooms (yellow spaces). The lowest level was shaped in reaction to the automobile (shape with black tape). The two ways to travel from one level to the next are the stairs and a ramp (blue). Like many of Corbusier's other buildings the Villa Savoye is built on a grid where we find a perfect square.
