Description
Pendant made from a seashell. I sliced two pieces off one side of the shell (one upper and one lower part) at matching angles so they would fit together into a low domed shape. Then I glued them together; ground the back flat; trimmed, rounded, and repolished the edges, and put a hole through the back for wearing. The result is this very nice shape that looks pretty much as though I had done nothing to it at all.Related content

Wow.... Just TRULY amazing..... I have a couple seashells of my own which I have been pondering for days of what to do with them.... Making something like this for my Fiance would be wonderful.... I was just wondering If maybe you could give me a detailed Inbox with some Instructions.... You have done such a BEAUTIFUL job with this....

Thank you. I'm glad you like Wingheart; I certainly think it is one of my favorite and most successful works, and I'm sorry to say I don't know how to tell you how to do one like it.
To make this piece I had to use a particular kind of seashell, which I have only ever found one of, and don't know the name of. When I saw the shell, I realized I could do this with it, and saw the design in my head. It involved a lot of cutting with rotary diamond saws and other diamond tools, following that mental pattern, but I wouldn't know how to describe it in words.

If I knew where I could get another shell of the kind I used to make this, I could probably quote you a price. Unless I can find such a shell, this will be one of the very large number of pieces that I only ever do one of.

Ah! I had the exact same idea for a photography project 'heart of ireland'. I found one of those same shells intact (both halves present) and wanted to create a picture range with that.
Either way, wonderful and touching work!

I keep coming back to this one, thinking I'll have something intelligent to say. The best I can come up with is "Wow, it looks soft!"

At first I did think you had done nothing to it, but now I'm impressed – it must have taken no small amount of skill to manipulate it so yet let it look like nothing's been done to it, and you have good taste – this is a naturally gorgeous object!
