It is! I got one a few weeks back as a random surprise gift from a class-mate.
Normally my hands are torn up because I peel at the skin and bite my lips enough to bleed, but they've actually gotten a chance to HEAL now that I have something else to put in my hand. :') I've only bled myself twice in like, two weeks, which is a huge change.

Huh, fancy that, I got mine months ago during a trip to Boston and it somehow helped with my habit of biting my nails

now when I give handshakes, I leave scratch marks on peoples hands, zoinks-

I used to bite my nails too XD I know the feeling. Even worse is when you move to fast and slash your own arm on accident.

The whole principal of fidget toys is that it gives you an outlet to put extra energy into useless action instead of destructive action like biting or minor stuff like foot tapping.
Fidget spinners do a poor job at that because there's not too much movement beyond hitting it and staring at the result. They're honestly more like a yo-yo than anything else in that way...
