Maybe the Chozo just wanted to have fun with their creations fighting each other on galactic scale through Samus, the Space Pirates and the Feds... The Chozo are the game developers! and yes they're stupid for having done Other M. Stupid birds gone senile. They should have focused on making more Chozo statues instead of getting high, because "transcending" is BS.

I think they only smart guy in the whole Metroid series is Metroid Prime; He just hides in a hole, and lets his blue piss corrupt the planet.

Well, the Metroids could be controlled by the Mother Brain, which was, at the time, entirely under the control of the chozo.
