Well, I usually do lineart for it and then render using paint brush tools and stuff. They usually come out best when I sketch it along with the character sketch rather than leaving it as an afterthought. A lot of it is also just using nice lighting effects to make it blend in more naturally. If you're looking for a traditional method of doing that I suppose I'd recommend practicing painting them or rendering with coloured pencil (though that might be more tedious and more prone to mistakes), either with the rest of the picture or on a seperate piece of paper and then sticking the character drawing on or scanning them both onto computer program and editing them together after it's dry? It's a bit difficult to translate into traditional methods since I've never really tried to

well to make you feel better it actually helps me understand and I think I might try it the next time I draw and I can lightly color in with color pencil thanks nab that helped a lot.

I looked through your stuff, and i must say, you're very good at achieving natural looking colors in your backgrounds(which is pretty difficult to do lol) you're very good at clean line work with cell shading and still achieving pleasant looking colors and textures(especially for your age too you're so young). Keep practicing as much as you can and you'll achieve so much
