Description Characters: Rebecca(girl with the pigtails), Steve(the guy who solved that horrendous quadratic equation)

This is also another comic strip I made last spring.
This was one of my ideas for my intro comic to the series; I quickly rejected it though.
Okay, I verified the answer to that equation with Desmos and Wolfram Alpha. If it's still incorrect, then this would be very embarrassing...

Regarding the last panel:
There was a thought bubble Rebecca had, that I deleted, hence the positioning of the speech bubbles.
I didn't have the time and energy to re-edit; I also managed to convince myself that the positions of the speech bubbles are good enough.

This is comic strip #4

I really like algebra I can definitely see how others resent it though.

The only moments when people do is when they finally get it or

They're probably mathematician of the classroom

(I'm none of those)

Doesn't matter if it's challenging, or if it doesn't make sense at first. I like it when I know I can apply it in a practical way.

Taking the short route never helps. You need to struggle and find your own way if you want math carved into your brain.

Rebecca was actually just expecting a little help from Steve, and he just gave out the whole answer an process, instead
You can probably tell, by the his look on the last panel, that he just figured out that he may not have actually helped her.

From what my Calculus professor said: "Math is not an inherited trait. It's something you just get used to doing."

MAN the pushing of the glasses!

Love how Steve keeps that pose and transitions.

Thanks
I honestly thought it was a bit too forced, but I'm glad it looks okay!
Steve didn't really mean to look too bold.

NO the forced look looks really good. The actual math and jarring visual really suits this one well. It can be great to take what you normally do and do shockingly different things with it, and in this, you managed to do something jarringly different but that still feels totally right. Part of that might be the way that enabled you do capture people's feelings by using it. Professionals try to use techniques like this in anime, and often do it wrong, but here you are nailing it. Plus, you're not overusing it, so you've got that, too. Also, if you did overuse it, you actually wouldn't do that, because you have the sense, skill and reservation to simply take something like that and make it a good running theme, rather than simply doing it too much, like others might

And the force of pushing the glasses. If the paranormal element of this story becomes too strong, Steve will activate it by pushing his glassed for three panels and it will come alive.
No rush on making things paranormal, though. You need to do that when you feel like it and the time is right, or need it for a plot or excuse or something else good. I believe you have a good pace and plan going.

Why did it take me until now to consciously think about how Stevenson has become your avatar?

Thank you I honestly didn't think of it that way, lol. I didn't really find it too difficult to make an atmosphere like though, though
Daily Routine's plot is very slow and discrete, almost to the point where it doesn't really have one, actually...

Lol, yeah I was wondering when you were going to point out an icon change

I might change this to Anne or Tikee once in a while, by a span of a year or two. I can't guarantee that for sure, though.

Thank you
Honestly, it was actually pretty easy to do. The real hard part about making these comics, let alone just drawing in general, is maintaining consistency.

Speech bubble positions look fine too

Yep, it's intimidating at first, but all you need to do is just substitute stuff.
Definitely not as intimidating as the maths they do in university

Alright
I think I'm just having one of those moments where I'm the only one that sees something wrong

Hahah now I'm learning calculous :'D But so far it isn't too bad. And university level stuff is just 100% more frightening hahaha

Haha typically an artist sees more flaws in their own work and their audience XD

Calculus shouldn't be too bad.
However, I took a general calculus (Parts of calculus I and II) class in high school, and calculus I in university. They both felt completely different. Whatever you do, if you do go to university that is, do not ever let your guard down, or it will wreck you for sure.
I slacked off on one of my second-year courses, and now I'm pretty much paying the price

Yep, heard that one before

CH0TTA-C0MICS In reply to Doodlevolts [2016-10-30 08:41:49 +0000 UTC]

Haha yeah I bet. I've been warned so many times that if you spend your first year slacking off (like many people do) then you'll get a wake up call the second year and regret everything. :'D But then again, I'm doing IB and I've been warned not to slack off or you'll regret it... and here I am :'D

That's good
Some professors (the ones who directly read off the lecture slides mostly) and the repeated content make it seem so simple. It kind of makes you get lazy, especially once you know almost everyone else being lazy as well. From my experience, the second half of the term is often a huge jump in difficulty, and that's what usually gives me the wake-up call.

Ooh I see :c yeah, if the teacher is lazy and people are lazy then everyone just wants to be lazy. Well I hope I'll be prepared! :'D

Or he could have just went through the solution, slower.
In hindsight, it's going to be a mouthful to explain that whole procedure by just words.
