Description
Fish Hooks, a new Disney animated series, airs a sneak peek tonight on the Disney Channel, right after Camp Rock 2.Conroy is quoting the press release from the show.
A lot of cartoons over the past decade or so have the main characters in a school in some sort, in order to make them relate-able to the kids who watch it.
Ah well, both CH Greenblatt (Chowder) and Maxwell Atoms (Billy and Mandy) are working on the show, so it might turn out good.
Also note that this is the first Conroy Cat comic in two weeks that did not have a cartoon star in it. I really hope people don't expect one to appear in each comic.

Back then I wanted to have Conroy and Doggy talk about cartoons in random locations as some silly visual gags, but I was told in school that I should keep it consistent.
Conroy juggles a LOT of jobs in Cartoon Land.

Oh like when Doggy does reviews in random location sometimes.
Did you do all these strips for school?

Yes and no. I started working on this before my last year of art school as a side project, and I always showed it to classmates and teachers whenever I could. The Bag-em-alls story arc served as my senior project, as well as to commemorate Conroy's 1 year anniversary / 100th strip.

I meant the cartoonish nature of the way the characters act with their expressions.

I'm thinking it might be a bit similar to Spongebob and Recess.

To be fair "My Gym Partner is a Monkey" has fish in it.

I guess I should've said "The first to STAR fish in school."
Because Gym Partner features all kinds of different animals.

Of all the cartoons mentioned, I've only seen Tiny Toons. I think I've heard of the Emperor's New School.

I might have heard of it. It's a Disney show with a kid genius or savante, right?

I think I saw him inventing stuff, but that might have been a friend of him. Or maybe I've confused this show with another.

I'm not sure who's the fish in the Disney cartoon, the characters or the audience... Hopefully, the innovation will be in story lines rather than the same Archie/Betty/Vernonica/Scooby Doo stories that are typical. And there was the 30's cartoon set in a one room school for fish... so using fish in a school is an old visual pun in animation. I think it was used several times.
