Description
The wonderful, adorable Urd~The cast of characters I have is.. ...very wide-ranging. Some are more side-characters, while others relate more to the populace of specific worlds encountered in the story.
Others, on the other hand... are sort of a part of the "Core Group" of "main characters" and whatnot (..I don't quite know how to explain it XD; )
INSPIRATION
As my story-verse goes, a major theme in the writing is exploring "the person behind the myth" for some of the varied mythologies of our world, as any of those figures might connect to my story. (Sort of in a sense, like how the manga Boku Girl deals quite heavily with the Norse god Loki)
The intention, in a sense, is to explore the logic of "Any text or scriptures we might have on existing mythological figures is biased at best, as if these people actually DID exist, we're reading the story based on how someone else viewed them, NOT how those figures themselves were as people."under the premise that this wasn't the actual story of that entity, but rather an outsider's heavily biased or entirely inaccurate impression. So... In trying to "humanize" these entities in a sense, I try to explore what their motivations might be, and sometimes a main character is born out of the mix ^_^
Urd is essentially the adaptation of the Norse goddess Urd, under the premise that the Norse, Greeks and Romans all worshiped, revered and/or feared the same trio of sister goddesses of Fate.
POWERS / SPECIALTIES
The sisters themselves perceive all life in time and space as "threads" in a "Great Tapestry" of time and space, and, in sort of Quantum Physics terms, they essentially possess the ability to perceive the branching timelines of any person they interact with, and they possibly also possess the ability to spot major upcoming events as specific points in the Great Tapestry. (I don't fully understand their abilities yet, but fleshing it out is a Work-In-Progress ^_^; )
While each of the three sisters has this basic power, each has their own "Specialties".
Urd (Greek: "Atropos"; Roman: "Morta") specializes in "Prognosis". ...In most cases, the "ultimate prognosis" of pretty much anything is "Death", so the Romans basically worshiped her as a Goddess of Death who "determined" how and when people died. But when otherwise utilized, her power grants people the ability to see the challenges preventing people from reaching what would otherwise be their destiny, giving a more positive spin on her abilities.
Skuld (Greek: "Clotho"; Roman: "Nona") specializes in "Future", which specializes in giving people glimpses of their near future. (this differs from Urd's "Prognosis" power because it emphasizes where people might go, not the challenges on their path to getting there)
Verthandi (Greek: "Lachesis", Roman: "Decima") specializes in "Present", which specializes in giving people advice on their present situations to help guide people along their paths.
All three sisters traverse the timelines, but each's "Specialty" does so in a different way, giving each sister a different means of manipulating the timelines, while all three can subtly push any other being down any timeline the Fates choose.
...For this reason, gods of the varied pantheons they encountered FEARED these goddesses, because if angered, the goddesses could "accidentally" give the wrong advice, or push down a timeline that led to the untimely end of anyone who angered them.
STORY / BACKSTORY
All being said?
Despite their great power, Urd had been in kind of a rut for the longest time. Of the three sisters, she was the most "anti-social" BY FAR, as she dealt with the consistent depression of being known only as a Goddess of Death, who only told people how they would die, and was treated with only fear, never empathy. This all dealt a major blow on her psyche and her sisters admittedly put a bit of their time toward keeping Urd from going full "Hikikomori" on them.
The trio is introduced to the story initially through the machinations of Verthandi, but all three of them latch onto the story's "main group" because all three sisters encountered a "prophecy" in the Great Tapestry, of a future that brought all three of them "great happiness", so Verthandi and Skuld in particular latched onto this in hopes of finally snapping Urd out of her "rut".
While I haven't introduced the character yet, I suppose... One of the main characters is an "entity" (because this person is SO HARD TO EXPLAIN) that everyone just calls "Azzy", who admittedly falls in love rather easily (
Verthandi introduces Skuld and Urd to Azzy, and Urd takes an instant interest. ...Especially when Verthandi instigates that all three of the sisters use their powers on Azzy to give Azzy a "reading" (using tarot cards as a medium, similar to their old Norse method of using "runes", though they ARE goddesses of "Fate" and, by extension, "Chance", so virtually ANY luck-based system of cards or symbols can be used by them as long as they can convey the meanings of the symbols appropriately). When the reading concludes, Urd found herself PARTICULARLY interested in Azzy because Azzy was the first person in a LONG, LONG time (if almost ever) who she didn't give a "YOU'RE GONNA DIE" reading to. .....Instead, her reading gave Azzy a list of problems that Azzy needed to sort through, because with them resolved, she saw IMMENSE potential in Azzy.
After this point, Urd becomes increasingly smitten with Azzy, and even attempts to instigate a sexual relationship with Azzy while taking advantage of darkness to pretend to be Sushiko slipping into Azzy's bed, as Urd's silver hair, when tied into a ponytail, vaguely resembles Sushiko's hairstyle. (...This succeeds, technically. Urd got some dick that night XD; )
After that point, Urd sort of crumbles from her own guilt and lust and admits to thinking she'd fallen in love with Azzy, and they start to nurture a friendship that, in tune with Azzy's nature of falling in love rather easily, eventually culminates in Azzy embracing Urd's love.
In time, Urd grows comfortable enough to reveal her "true form" to Azzy, which is something like what I drew above.
FORMS
Urd has two main forms: A chibi-ish "Chibi" form that bears a passing resemblance to "Lulu" from "League of Legends" (~4ft?), and an "Adult" form which is still rather short, but is closer to "adult" sized. (~5ft+)
In Urd's "true" form, Urd is actually a demon goddess, and possesses some "wolf-like" features in addition to bat wings that she can use for making impressive entrances along with her often elaborate ballroom-style gowns that often hang down to her feet.
No matter her form, however, Urd is still the shortest of the three sisters...
Admittedly, I'm not 100% happy with how this turned out. (even if it IS a "quick sketch".) Some details seem a little off (or maybe her arms seem a little long) but it's also possible that it just seems this way because I made her legs rather short / too chunky. (But I wanted to give her a certain curviness despite her "shortstack" / "oppai loli"-like height.)
Additionally, Urd may possibly have a third, even "more" "adult" form, as I have a mental image of her with a more "mature", less "chibi-ish" face than what I drew here, and possibly with a "maturity level" to a level of detail along the lines of perhaps an average Disney princess? Could still be short though. Or perhaps I have a mental image of Urd trying to look more "mature" than she really is, trying to impress Azzy with it while she's still not fully committed to showing her "true" self? Urd IS the shortest of the 3 sisters, after all...
...Amusingly, Urd might also be my shortest character overall.
In Life Is Butts , I was tempted to include a back view of Urd in it, because it would show the height difference between my tallest character (Mikihara Zanza) and my shortest character (Urd).
The two of them are, paradoxically, friends, but they make each other VERY self-conscious of their differences, and have mutual fears of rejection toward each other because of it. It's a little bit like how Likiki (second-shortest) is friends with Etreya (2nd or 3rd tallest (unsure if Etreya and Aegea are same height or slight difference) ), but just more exaggerated.

I could have sworn I showed you XD;
Coincidentially, last night I found someone in a manga who has about her sense of "maturity level", just scaled to the same height as what I drew here.

The biography just makes me like her more. She's adorable, Doom. You can't just stop drawing her now. You need to draw more of Urd.
