I've been struggling with the color balance of this picture for the last.. ... I dunno, maybe three hours?Right now I'm just kind of looking at the ver I had before I started struggling, and here I'm going like "Eh, it looks fine. To hell with it! *posts*"
It's weird how struggling for a while can make you go like "... ..y'know, I have no idea why I was fighting this. This looks fine."
In any case, I'll just copy-paste the description from the portrait, because it's basically the same:
"Sushiko was a character I drew a while back (sometime last year) but I really didn't land on the look I was trying to go for at all, so I decided it'd be good practice to take another shot at drawing her, so I made a new concept piece, focusing on her face with the thought of making it a portrait piece.
So here it is, I guess. The fruit of my labor: Sushiko in all her glamorous-by-comparison-to-the-old-version glory.

So yeah. In this submission, this's more how I generally envision her overall. shoulderless... ...robe..-miniskirt-... ..-thing... I think the sleeves might be too long. Eh, whatever.
My one hope is that this picture doesn't totally suck and I don't realize it because I'm too sleepy. Well, whatever. I'm going to sleep now.

Yeah, definitely improved character design. But what do you think of the coloring compared to the old one?
The background here was actually fairly easy. though I do wish I had better inspiration at the time of making it ^_^;

Its kinda hard to tell between the two but I think this one has better skin tones and blending compared with the other one.

Good, but the feet seem to fall apart there. Might wanna work on that.

The sleeve aren't too long unless you think they are, with the sleeves that long, you can use that to you advantage like with Darkstalker's Hsien-ko. Where various weapons come out of the sleeves, or in your case other powers.
