Shot at the May 31st 2009 "Back in Blacklight" workshop hosted by D.M. Gremlin Studios.Post Production: Adjusted highlights equivalent to a full exposure stop, and midtones roughly half stop. Shifted black point to eliminate exposure noise.
This was shot on a Cannon I borrowed from ^wynnesome for the day, and while I love my Nikon, the Cannon color interpretation software tends to shoot UV colors in more accurate shades.

Rock on, amigo! Ditto on the contacts. Short of painting a model's eyelids a la Johnny Depp/Capt Jack Sparrow, what else can you do?
I've had similar experiences with Canon. I notice they're better with blues where Nikon by default hits the red & yellow tones more. You can change color balance, but you can't change the sensor & software. That's why I prefer Nikon in general, though that 21 MP EOS 5D Mark II has me drooling and contemplating a switch. I'm at a low point with a mostly-broken D70 and only two unbroken lenses, so if I'm ever going to change now's the time.
Kudos for once again setting the bar.

While I'm sure it varies model to model, my experiences with Nikon has always been accurate color interpretation in white light. Not that it's a massive difference, and one can always shift it in post if so desired. Just part of the philosophy of getting it right with a shutter click, and spending less time pushing a mouse.

Those contacts rock my proverbial socks right off. One thing that really bothers me about run-of-the-mill blacklight photography in non-hybrid lighting is the blank, dull space where the model's eyes are. Eyes are, in my opinion, the most expressive part of a face, and when they're blank in an image full of dynamic color, the effect is something of an artistic buzzkill. The addition of blacklight effects to Emobi's eyes really sets this image apart from standard blacklight photography. Job brilliantly done, Adam.

Pretty much from here on out, contacts are a vital part of every UV shoot. Just one more of those "why the hell haven't we been doing this all along" things, made crystal clear in the shots with Emobi.
Agreed. The dull, fuzzy, blank look in the eyes has always been something that bugged me in black light shots. You can't paint the eyes, and there's really no photographic technique that can fix the lack-lustre.

It isn't that you can't paint the eyes. Technically, you can do whatever you want, but I think if you added that to the list of tortures you put your models though, there'd be a mass revolt and you'd end up bound to that metal frame in your studio with barbed wire, covered in makeup and wearing a pink tutu while being set on fire, electroshocked, drenched with water, and having your sinuses irrigated with Magnum beer. Contacts are much better all-around, for everyone involved.
I'm seeing an image in my head now with UV lilac-purple contacts, and it's delicious. Soooooo many possibilities for the exploring and exploiting.

Whether it's your weakness or not, the picture in my head when I imagine you in a tutu is downright hilarious.

and as far as his crediting you as instigator, I think that's total crap. I was the one who started the talk of tutus and beer-drownings and questionable goings-on. I demand some acknowledgment of my instigatory actions, and if I don't get it, I'm going to go pout in a corner. I have a giant lower lip, don't make me use it!
