What got me most though, was warhammer Applejack. More specifically her chapter. Iron Fists? There exist other people who know about this chapter?! You just made my day

Iron Fists seemed like a good chapter for Applejack because of their philosophy - they seemed more level-headed and less prone to Emperor-worshiping fanaticism than many other chapters. Β The emphasis on honesty and justice doesn't hurt either.

Aye, they are much more civilized than your average Imperial fanatics. I really like them giving inquisition the finger since I hate inquisition with a passion. All the reasons to collect this chapter, though noone ever recognizes them...
The similarity to values upheld by Applejack never occured to me though, but now that you mentioned them they seem so obvious. I guess I will now have to one day incorporate Applejack into my army!

Also, Applejack should be a different chapter as the grey knights do a great deal of focus on psykers for an astartes chapter. A better choice would be the Black Templars, who focus on pretty much anything not relating to magic.

Actually I missed the bit about every Grey Knight being a powerful psyker. Β I agree that Applejack probably doesn't fall under the "psyker" category XD
The problem is that I really like the Grey Knights because they specifically have those little shields that let each marine display his own personal heraldry, and I needed a way to work Applejack's cutie mark into the armor design. Β Can you suggest another chapter that has a grey or neutral color scheme that I could use?

Firstly, they have that grey color scheme that I was looking for, and second, the Warhammer 40K wiki article on the Iron Fists says that they have (and I quote) "developed a reputation ... of favouring steadfast justice and honesty."
Sounds perfect.
Also, Applejack's sword is going to be a Power Sword instead of a force weapon

Space Wolves is the best you're going to get due to the fact that they're both grey, connected to their nature (wolves), and have no psykers in their ranks that I know of. They're a physically oriented loyalist chapter.

I'm not as concerned about whether or not a chapter has any number of psykers in their ranks. Β As far as I know, the Iron Fists are the usual mix of psykers and non-psykers, so Applejack can just as easily be a non-psyker.
I do like the Space Wolves suggestion, but after some research it looks like that won't actually work for me because (A) their chapter's philosophy is one of loyal but non-conformist and somewhat anarchical practices, which doesn't really fit Applejack's character, (B) The Space Wolf gene seed induces various physical alterations that I can't include without muddling Applejack's character, and (C) the Iron Fists armor is allowed to incorporate the wing motif on the chest (which I want on Applejack's armor) whereas the Space Wolves generally do not, preferring wolf, bear or generally beast-related imagery.
