Chronicles of the Outerverse

Summary
Graduated from Harvard with three doctorates at the age of 13, Samantha Faraday had always been one of the smartest people on Earth. That combined with an over-competitive father made her grew into mindset where everyone else was inferior to her due to their lesser intellects. As such, she developed an egocentric personality. Much to the dismay of her little step-sister, Cassandra. Samantha had always felt despise for her little step-sister, blaming her mother for numbing her father's mind with what she considered useless emotions and ideas, but deep inside, Samantha was just jealous that her father seemed to love her sister far more than what he ever loved her after her mother died. That combined with Cassandra's talents for everything she was couldn't do, made Samantha develop an even further hatred for her step-sister.

Despite not getting along with her fellow scientists, her success didn't go unnoticed by the U.S.A. government, which recruited her to be the head of a project to try to control sub-atomic particles. She was recruited alongside another scientist, Dr. Maurice Timewheel, who worked as her assistant. Surprisingly, they ended up becoming closer than what she had ever being with any other person, finding him as one of the few people on Earth she could have a conversation that was worth it. However, one day, just before one major test was going to be run, Maurice noticed an error in her calculations for the experiment. Despite their relationship, Samantha became enraged, taking it as if he didn't trust her intelligence and thought that he was better than her, so she didn't listened to him and ran the test anyway. This resulted in a major catastrophe with several side effects. All the soldiers and officials that were behind the "safety line" died by the radiation expelled, while Dr. Timewheel ended up being irradiated by tachyons, seemingly disintegrating him as well, while Samantha was engulfed by cosmic energy.

At the end, she was the only one left. She was scared at first when she saw herself, but that feeling lasted only for an instant, for the power that now flowed through her veins was all so intoxicant. And why shouldn't she have it? Wasn't it the whole purpose of her work? Sure, some people were lost, but such is the way of progress, and if she now has power, why not use it? Who more capable to wield it than the smartest person in the planet? Those were the excuses she told herself in her euphoric state. In her mind, she deserved the power, more than anyone else, she was tired from the incompetence of the world, and she was going to change it. Either they liked it or not...
