It's kinda bugging me that everyone's criticizing the fact that this base has clothes... >)_(>
At any rate, I think I'll use this.

Hello, this is just a reminder that a base with clothes on it is not a base, it is a recolorable trace. Bases are always naked and some times bald. Things like the bag of potato chips are okay since they're props.
Please remember to make your future bases naked. ^^

This is the creator of the base speaking.
It doesn't even matter. A base IS a trace. Clothing IS an option.
And no, I can make a base with clothes on if I please.

I'm sorry if I come off as rude, but I must inform you that this is not a base. This is a doll that encourages recolours. A base is always naked and is usually bald.

This is the base creator talking.
You're not being rude. I understand that. But it can be a base if people see it that way. I even used it myself.
So what if it's just recoloring?
Doesn't matter. If you're not lazy enough, hell, go ahead... change the clothing. It's not THAT difficult.

Bases are made for their poses, not their themes. You see, a "kimono base" is a "themed base". Themed bases are perfectly fine if you use the props to set the theme. For example, you can make a ninja-themed base by posing the character with a kunai or some other ninja tool. However you're not supposed to use premade clothes to set a theme for a base.
Headgear can also be used to set a theme. Since headgear is usually small in size and isn't actually part of the outfit it's okay. So you can create a "maid base" as you mentioned previously by tracing/drawing the frilly head piece that maids are typically seen wearing. You can make a "Naruto base" with the headbands the characters wear, as another example.
Having the clothes already done leaves little to no work for the doller and all they have to do is recolor things. Since all that needs to be done is recolor a few things the "base" is actually not a base and is instead a recolorable trace.

This is the base creator talking.
As I said to , it doesn't matter.
Where do you get off telling me what bases are made for and not?
People perceive bases in their own way. A lot of dollers are lazy. If tehy aren't, they wouldn't mind CHANGING the kimono or clothing. It's not difficult.
Not ALL bases can be bald and not ALL bases can be without clothes. It's a matter of choice for the base-maker to add on what the original had to offer. It's the doller's choice to use it or not.
Please, I don't mean to sound rude, but if you make a name like clothedbases and ThatsNotABase and tell base-makers what they can and cannot do... please don't.

My copypasta;
There are unwritten rules of base making just like there are unwritten rules of society. Everyone expects you to restrain yourself from streaking, even if it's something you like doing, and if you do it someone is going to scold you. This is no different. There's a crime people expect you not to commit (tracing clothes) and yet you do it anyway, and there are people scolding you for doing it (this account and ~ThatsNotABase ). I'm not shoving an opinion down people's throats like you all think I am, I'm just reinforcing the rules. If you don't like it, tough. Someone is trying to tell you something to help you, maybe you ought to listen.

Rules?
Listen to me. Basers have the freedom to add whatever they like to bases. Be it clothing, headgear, etc. Rules can be broken, just like in society.
Besides, it's just basing. It ISN'T society. There shouldn't even be rules against freedom of basing. Perhaps it would be better if accounts like yours and ThatsNotABase just leave basers to do what they please and not enforce these rules that shouldn't apply.
Why not just enjoy the bases with or without clothing instead of bitching, ranting, and telling the creators who put time and effort into making them that the bases they make shouldn't have clothes on?
Plus, I've only made one base with clothing. It's not like it's a crime. Get off my back.
Also, no, I will not listen to what you have to say. These "unwritten rules" are nothing but a joke. So either lay off bases with clothes, or stay on deviantart as a pest. Your choice.

This account and ~ThatsNotABase wouldn't have to exist if base makers like you would just obey the unwritten rules. There's society within the dolling community, isn't there? And the people within the dolling/base making community expect you to follow the rules just as they do. If it kills you to follow regulation then maybe you shouldn't be making bases. If someone is going to put premade clothing on their bases then they have no right to call their self a base maker.

How can we obey rules that aren't written?
We have the right to add clothing as I've said about five times now. I wouldn't have to be arguing with you if you would just get it through your thick skull. You have no right on this site to tell me and other base makers what we can and cannot do and enforcing these made up rules.
I make bases. It's fun. But when people like you start telling me what I can't do with my bases, then it's not fun. Bases are meant for fun. Who cares?
For your information, I don't have to listen to your crap. At least I can make bases. All you do is rant on every clothed base and piss off base makers. Have you seen your comments recently? All you've done is annoy and offend people. If you can't accept what base makers do, then you have no right to even be here.
Have you watched the news recently as well? Society is collapsing. So you have no right to give me crap about a dolling society. It's the internet, lay off a little.

You obey society's rules without question. Why is it so hard to obey these?
Tl;dr, don't care anyway.

It's base making, you're not some freedom-fighter in a third-world country lead by a dictator. Suck it up and follow the rules.

Exactly. It's base-making. Don't take it so far.
No and why don't you get off my back. I mean, have you even seen any of my other bases? it's not like you use any bases, so it's none of your concern.

clothedbases In reply to itsaaudraw [2009-07-07 20:38:41 +0000 UTC]
No, that's why you should follow the rules. You're not starting a revolution against a dictatorship, you're just making a pixel base. It's not something so serious that you have to act like you're being oppressed by your government but it's still on a level where you're expected to follow the rules. Just follow them and get over it. It won't kill you.

itsaaudraw In reply to clothedbases [2009-07-07 21:04:32 +0000 UTC]
I'm not saying it will kill me. I just think it's stupid that making a pixel doll requires stupid rules like it never can be clothed. It's up to the base maker.
Whatever you say won't change my mind. It's not like you even are a pixel artist, so why should I care what you have to say about my base?
Besides, this arguement is pointless. Just accept I won't listen to these made up rules and move on.

clothedbases In reply to itsaaudraw [2009-07-07 21:22:15 +0000 UTC]
Fine, don't follow the rules. Do you have any real right to call yourself a base maker?
Saying my opinion doesn't matter because this account doesn't submit pixel art is ridiculous. If I'm a sculptor and your a painter my opinion should be just as valuable to you as another painter's.
But for the millionth time, it's not an opinion, it's a fact. The rules aren't made up, quit trying to be a rebel.

itsaaudraw In reply to clothedbases [2009-07-07 22:56:50 +0000 UTC]
Do you have the right to call out base makers who add clothes? No.
In a sense it's not. I didn't ask for your opinion on clothed bases and neither did any other users.
Well, "fact" or not, this shouldn't apply. It is made up. Every rule is made up. It's the internet, stop trying to be a cop. If you can do that, I'll stop rebelling. Either quit while your ahead or keep pestering people about silly little bases until you get your way like a whiny brat.
For crying out loud, they're BASES not real life. Get a grip on reality, why dont ya?
