Description
We were assigned to do an homage sculpture to a contemporary artist, so naturally i chose Giger.made with super sculpey and glazed with a mixture of sculpey glaze gloss with black acrylic paint. about 9" tall

This is outstanding. It is very accurate to the original alien, except the tubes on the back, but i guess you just used your artistic license there.

yea i was looking at a couple of giger's original aliens while making this, and i couldnt get those back horns right so i kinda improvised there a bit. thank you for your kind words!

haha yea theres always that moment of cold-sweat fear when opening the oven after baking super sculpey. ive had so many times when my pieces came out all burnt and fugly

I've given up the kitchen for the most part actually...I've blown up at least five very expensive microwaves using various methods....The most recent was deciding that I wanted a frozen bagel for a midnight snack while I was still asleep and then promptly microwaving it for 20 minutes. Yes...I said 20...not 2....

hmmmmm not really, you could go to the super sculpey home page and they give you some basic stuff, or maybe theyll have something at a sculpture forum although I don't know any. I've just been playing with clay since i was a kiddo so I picked it up after a while. This stuff is really easy to work with, you should try it you'll probably surprise yourself.

Another great angle! Btw, do you make this thing in parts? Like, make first the legs and torso, let it dry, then the arms and stuff?

well super sculpey doesnt dry, but i made everything together except for the head and hands,which I put together then baked it all together.
