I would. Because if he died then that would make a drastic change in the course of history which probably wouldn't end well. So it's better to be safe and let history run its course than face possible eternal war or extinction.

Also his childhood wasn't really the best so i can see how he turned into something no one could've ever predicted. I mean his father was an abusive jerk,the family Members he liked eventually died including his mother who he loved more than anything,the art school destroyed his dreams of becoming an artist and he probably has a bit of PTSD or some other mental damage from WW1. So it's safe to say that a life like that would drive anyone into such a dark place.
