Description Basic prototype for the plush tutorial thing I have planned. It's meant to be a Shiba but looks more like a Chihuahua...
Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Anyway, she's a floppy design (what I mentally refer to as a half-and-half pattern) so she can lie down, play bow, stand, sort of sit etc. About 8" tall, I guess?
Interesting point - her paws and face markings are needle-felted. It took about 40 mins to do the lot, so it's very quick for a simple effect. She's hella cute. But that will be in the tut too, for anyone who may have a felting kit. I'll do a mini version too and upload it here, but it's fairly self explanitory.

I'll do some more examples with different ears, colour breakdowns and emboidered eyes for the tutorial. I'm going to use some faux fur and make a fat little husky <3
In the tutorial I'll include different ears and tails to make other breeds like chihuahuas, spaniels, huskies, terriers and anything else I can think of, and maybe even a short-legged version of the pattern to make dachies, corgies, bassets, valhunds etc. So whoever buys the pattern can choose what they make.

I was going to do other animals too but I think that'll just get hella busy, so I'll prolly just do each animal seperately, so do a cat pack, a woodland pack, a zoo pack, etc.

Anyway, more pics will be up on tumblr soon:

If your talking about suggestions, maybe how you can incorporate or better deal with the stretch of minky and fleece?

To be honest, I've never had a problem with minky stretching. Like, ever. I stuff my plushes hella tight sometimes and there's only a small amount of stretch. But my plushes are small, it would maybe be more noticable on bigger scale plushies.
Fleece, on the other hand, now THERE'S a stretchy gitwad!

But yes, I shall think of how to approach those problems...

If it's not *too* expensive, I'll definitely be buying the pattern.

Hopefully not too much, no, but it will be very long and have lots of parts, so it should be worth it.

im not sure if its just me but I feel like shibas have wider cheeks and Chihuahuas have more of a bigger forehead, but I think that's just me. Maybe a head tuft orΒ floopy ears?

Yep, I agree! She needs some fluff around her neck, at least, to help keep that poofy shiba look.

Thanks! Hopefully it'll be ready around April, maybe a bit later, but once the KS plushes are done for the end of Feb (ideally) I'll be focussing on the tutorial.

Oh. my. gosh. I'm not looking to make a dog, but if this is the overall style/type of doll covered in the tutorial -- all I can say is I can not WAIT for the cat pack to come out so I can make my dear little Amai-chan! I'm so excited!
Because seriously, this little puppy is the cutest plush I have ever seen.

dot-DOLL In reply to hai-tan [2015-01-07 17:32:30 +0000 UTC]

Yush, cats will be similar! I'll have to study cats more, I'm less familiar with them than I am with dogs, so that their bodies are the right style / shape etc. I tend to draw cats as being really long... That will be corrected.

Thank you! <3 I hope the cats will be as successful. I might start on a cat now so I have more time to practice...

Cats have such interesting anatomy, I'll bet they would be tricky to plush! I've really loved looking at TrcyJB's cat anatomy studies, she really nails their anatomy. Maybe they can be helpful to you:Β foxprints.com/tracy/character_… (artwork by )

I'm so excited to see what you come up with!

LimitlessEndeavours [2015-01-05 15:13:33 +0000 UTC]

Very cute! Love the design! If this is a plastic nose you are using, I'd suggest you could include an easy nose pattern for those (like me) who like to have a cuddly, squishy fabric nose Others than that I don't think it looks like a Chihuahua. Great job!

dot-DOLL In reply to LimitlessEndeavours [2015-01-05 15:25:05 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
YUSH a plush nose pattern, indeed. On that note then, cutesy or realism? I'd likely do both, but do you have a preference?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LimitlessEndeavours In reply to dot-DOLL [2015-01-05 19:27:42 +0000 UTC]

It should go with the plush style in first line. I'd choose a cute nose over a realistic one for this little pup. But you can offer both types for people to choose from When do you think you're ready offering this adorableness?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dot-DOLL In reply to LimitlessEndeavours [2015-01-07 17:04:44 +0000 UTC]

Cuteness first, okay! i'm just trying to get a feel of what folks would want, as artists and buyers.

Hmmm depends. I'm kinda aiming for April (I still need to try it in other fabrics, with other breed styles) but ideally no later than the summer.

(i think you should change the nose color to brows, it's too outstanding)

Yes, that's very true. I have trouble finding noses with colour, I may have to just buy those big mixed bags from online XD
