Description
This was done for the group TheDarkLegion on their Anniversary contest.Featured here in this drawing is a cross-over of sorts, between Lien-Da meeting with my characters. As you can see they've been flanked by Tails in the Red Tornado, as well as some off-screen Freedom Fighters. Looks like Lien-Da is not liking this... especially since she's getting a some chest pillows pushing up against her and the controls. Someone better calm down her down.
This was hard. It took me time in figuring it out, especially the background after everything was sketched. Even then, each character took hours to color in. Overall I have no idea the amount of time it took, but looking at these characters line-less for the very first time, makes me feel glad though. They really came out well. There are some errors there, but I don't think they take away from the picture. THe rocket zooming in by Devil-La was something I wanted to do, and it looks like it missed her by a few several centimeters. Necra-Phillia is pretty creepy.... and Zaftiga-Zan was drawn in for the laughs.
Overall I like how this came out. The blasts and the beginning fire fight really came out well in this. Looking forward to doing more stuff like this- maybe even some Twisted Metal perhaps? Who knows. Enjoy!

Congrats on making a full piece with several characters, a story and a setting! It's obvious you spent a lot of time on this and it shows. The attention you paid to every tiny part of this is amazing, from the expressions of the characters to all the mechanical parts. The explosion in the top left looks epic, you really did good on the fire effects. There's characters and rubble flying everywhere, you can feel the tension as they escape. Also, while I'm not in the Sonic style fandom, it's refreshing to see characters with such detailed and interesting designs. I really like the mechanical parts of them, it makes you wonder about their stories. And the attention you paid to each characters shows, not one of them looks less finished than the other. It's easy to overwork one then get lazy and don't push the others as far, but you did it! And normally I'm not one for balloon breasts, but their designs are so over the top it doesn't bother me and adds to the ridiculousness of the four of them in a ship clearly not meant for four.
Seriously, I really like this piece. Only a few things bother me, the first one being why did you cut the plane? From the fact that all the ships identical to theirs are shooting at the plane, I'm guessing it is the main enemy. I saw the Team Rocket balloon before I saw the plane, and the balloon I guess was only supposed to be an easter egg. The composition shows a lot of action and suspense, I'm just wondering why the plane was cut. And now that's me nitpicking, but I thought at first the rocket was attached to the side of the ship. I think adding some motion blur to the rocket would make it look more like it's zooming by. But the fire trail behind it is great looking!
Overall it's looking great and again congrats on giving every part of this picture attention equally. And I'm guessing that in less than five seconds Team Rocket will be blasted off again!

Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it. Yeah the rocket looks a bit off, a motion blur would have made it look more in motion, and I'll need to keep that in mind when doing moving things. As for the plane, it was a last minute thought to add it in or keep it out from the rest. I was planning on drawing more going on in their, but time was running out and I felt it would look a bit off if there were more planes or ships in the sky. Not to mention only Tails has a plane if I remember correctly.

Overall, this is a solid piece. I can easily identify the focus of the picture in contrast to the background. The background itself is well colored and the oranges of fire and explosion complement it well. However, I believe there are some areas that need improvement. The first thing I notice is the palette and shading of the picture's focus. The oranges on the characters help them blend into their environment, but some of the shading seems very dark and without color. I would recommend experimenting with color and avoid shading with plain black. It can be very distracting and break the immersion of the piece.
The main colors of the characters appear to be very vivid. I do not wish for any of the personality of the characters to be lost by changing the colors, but sometimes a palette must be tweaked slightly to help a character blend into their environment. In this case, I believe that the red character fits the environment just fine. The green character stands out the most to me, as this color appears a bit too vivid for the lighting around them.
The last thing I would like to note is how busy the focus is. While I believe the detail in the mechanical parts of the image is very important to this picture's appeal, some of the details mesh together for me. I believe with more attention to overall value will fix this.
In general, you succeeded in a lot of the aspects of this drawing. The characters' expressions are great, adding an exciting level of emotion. I believe with a little more practice that you can create a very immersive piece. I hope my comments helped. Good luck with your future artworks!

Woow what a blast! Such epic battle scene~explosion and rudals everywhere~ you did a great job at drawing each character's expression~ it does made me know a bit about their personality~
