That was just cruel to him..... Killing a toddler's father..... One of the moments I hate Ubisoft....

I think that's a part of what makes the series realistic.
Not everything has happy endings, and Ubisoft seems to realize it.
Take Ezio, for instance; sure, he ended up with Sofia, but he would never get to see his kids grow up. And to think even further back, he couldn't have met Sofia if he wasn't an assassin, and he wouldn't have been an assassin if his father and brothers hadn't been killed. Also take in to point the deaths of Yusuf, Mario, and Christina, who were all quite dear to his heart.
And Altair- he lost his best friend and his youngest son, and he even killed his own wife (regardless of it being an accident). And he lived to be ninety two, bearing those burdens for nearly thirty years.
tldr; I appreciate Ubisoft for all their heart-wrenching moments because it makes the series more realistic
