In the time which this took place, many British people wanted to get in touch with their roots, and if you know the AC storyline you'll see where that comes into play for Haytham's name. though Kenway is a very British Name.

i read assassin's creed forsaken
and apparently his family of assassins named him haytham because it means young eagle too
- i also did a little googling and kenway means brave royal fighter -
so apparently he follows the path of altair and others who have meaningful names in the assassin's creed franchise :/
