I watched the movie last night, and I have to agree. I really don't see him as a hard core villian. How else would you act if you found out that everything you were told your entire life was a lie. Sure in the movie he helped the frost giants into Asgard but he was just trying to find a way to prove that he was just as worthy as Thor... Guess you can call Loki the Red headed step child. I just wanna hug him.

I have to respectfully disagree with you about Loki and I have to respectfully disagree with some of the others who don`t see Loki as a Villain or don`t want to see him as as a Villain.Hiddleston`s Loki is good-looking,yes,but I think Loki is a Villain.He`s in complete control of his actions,he knows exactly what he`s doing and why he`s doing it,he`s highly intelligent and well-spoken,coldly and shrewdly calculating,manipulative and deceitful,plans everything out,appears to be a pathological liar(and a very good one,at that),had no qualms about attempting to wipe out all of The Frost Giants,whichh thereby would have been commiting Genocide(interestingly enough,near the start of the movie Thor,Thor wanted to practically do the same thing to the Frost Giants but after his exile on Earth,Thor changes for the better,whereas back in Asgard, Loki appears to change for the worse and it`s a testament to the talents of the Director Kenneth Branagh,Chris Hemsworth,Tom Hiddleston,the rest of the Movie`s Cast and Crew,Marvel,etc,that Thor was such a great film because in the hands of lesser-talented people subject matter like Thor could have very well wound up being utterly ridiculous-anyone remember Son Of The Mask? Hiddleston is a truly gifted actor and I hope to see great things from him and look forward to it,I feel like Hiddleston made Loki more of a Tragic ,Complex and Layered Villain.
Thor was very Shakespearean as a Super Hero-Movie(Kenneth Branagh is a Shakespearean-trained thespian and director,so maybe that had something to do with it ,the palace-intrigue,the dynamic between families and fathers and sons and the dynamic between siblings-all very Shakesperean.Despite the Thor being a Fantasy/Science-Fiction Movie,I think because of those kinds of dynamics,it was easier for people to relate to.Loki is clearly in a lot of pain and is ''damaged''(and Shakespeare dealt with ''damaged''people a lot and Loki has a lot of anger and even some confusion .Hiddleston is such a good actor that he made Loki such a good liar that I couldn`t tell if he really loves King Odin,Thor and the rest of his fellow Asgardians or if he hated them.I remember sitting in the theatre and just marvelling when I was watching that scene where Odin and a hot-headed Thor are arguing about what to do about The Frost Giants and there`s Loki standing by them,and just by looking at the face of Loki-who isn`t saying a word throughout this heated exchange-you can just see all of these different thoughts and ideas whizzing through Loki`s mind at light-speed.Even though,I do still think Loki is a villain,I did find myself feeling bad for Loki because of the way he goes about trying to get his Father`s love and approval and wanting to be Thor`s equal and wanting Odin to to favour him as much as Odin favours Thor and to fit in and to be understood better.As I said before,he`s a Villain but a Tragic one,unlike say,Heath Ledger`s Joker from The Dark Knight(another Great Movie Villain),a Villain I didn`t feel for in the same way I did for Loki.Loki is easily one of the best movie villains ever.I can`t wait to see The Avengers! This is a beautiful piece of art.It looks like Loki is having a rare moment when he`s at peace and not filled with rage.The Butterfly on one of long and curved the horns of his helmet also helps establish the tranquility of the art.Hiddleston desribed the horns on Loki`s Helmet as kind of a repsentation of Loki`s soul,like it`s almost saying ''Back off,I`m dangerous.''Incredible artwork!You should do something for Marvel Comics someday!

I'm on your side here. I can not see him as a villain. In the old stories he was always just the trickster exept for this one time when he got a bit to jelous and killed one of the æsir (gods)
He even helped if one of his prankes went wrong.
He has always been my favorite of the Norse mythology.

i dont think hes a vilan i think he just wanted to feel loved and make his father proud of him for once. i almost cryed when he said "I could have done it father, i could have done it! for you, for all of us," and his voice kinda goes
