Description This lovely robin arrived yesterday, March 28, 2008. I spotted him when I got home from work. He was rooting in the snow under the crabapple trees. He was still there this morning along with 2 friends. We have a storm watch in effect today (a possible 12 inches of the fluffy stuff) so I hope they find a nice sheltered spot to hide in.

Hummm. That is a good point. Maybe we should be more like the birds.
The snow is all gone but warm weather is slow in coming this spring. I am so glad you like this shot.

Incredible shot. I love it. I only wish our robins were as chubby and as pretty as this cute guy. But there are two different types of robins, and ours is thin and boring with hardly any red... Too bad.

He was pretty puff up cause he arrived just before a snow storm and he was chilly.
Thanks for the fav. Glad you like him.

I'm sure he kept warm. I know everybody talks about seeing the "first robin of the spring", but they stay around all winter, people... LOL. I loved it, yes. ^^

Your very lucky to have Robins all winter. I'm afraid that in Manitoba when there is nothing but snow on the ground and the temperature is -30 they wouldn't survive. (not to many worms around for them)

Renthead07 In reply to dove-51 [2008-04-18 03:33:30 +0000 UTC]

Good point. But I don't think our robins survive the winter on worms, as our ground freezes as well... I think they survive on seeds that we provide for them and such. But I dunno.

Yes, he hung around in the shelter of our bushes and I put out some cooked up raisens for him. They all disappeared anyway so I guess he liked them.

Well we didn't get as much snow as they were forcasting. The temperature was just above freezing yesterday so alot of it melted as it snowed, but the wind was horrible. I thought the roof was going to take off last night. Still pretty windy this morning. I guess March is going out like a Lion, but I seem to remember it came in like a Lion to. Oh well. Spring has got to come sooner or later. Have a great day Kelly.

Yes, as if you need more snow!
The wind makes me nervous too! We need a new roof so every time it blows hard, we have shingles all over the yard!
Yep, spring is on the way! It's just taking sooo long! I'm bringing in wood today. Normally by now we'd just have a little fire in the morning to take the chill off. You have a great day too!

I wish you and the birdies that spring will find itΒ΄s way to your place soon too. It seems as it had finally come to Austria. Today the sun is shining and 16Β°C are awaited. Though tomorrow 'Easter holiday' is over and IΒ΄ll spend my days at university...

IΒ΄ve just come home from an awesome day at the zoo and a park. I saw a young fluffy pelican at the zoo and many free living song birds in the park around it. IΒ΄ll transmit the photos from the camera to the compy now.
Hope, youΒ΄ll get a good weather soon.
