Description
This Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) was photographed a while back (29 October 2003) yards from my home in Kent. This image has been published in a number of books and magazines, including a national newspaper.Related content

Listen where is your home Kent what country, these are the northern or osuthern lights I guess north as not too many people are near antartica an easter island south america named aftre amerigo vespucci, disgreguard getting into the hoiistory

Where i live Nothern lights are pretty common, but i have never seen stars shine as brightly as that....ever.
It's, just to beautiful for words.

Northern lights are very beautiful. This shot looks great with the starry sky on the background.
I watch the lights often here in Finland especially in the winter.

that is a great picture, one of the few pictures i could find where you can also clearly see the red lights, indicating that the particals from the sun are colliding with a lot of oxygen atoms. (that is why there is a lot of red light, nitrogen atoms also give red light, but not as much)
hope you dont mind if i use this in a school project

A nice shot of surging (Phase III) aurora to your northeast. I see Castor & Pollux to the lower right edge of the picture. The violet color caused by Rayleigh scattering of sunlight at the top of the display. Pretty sure I saw this in your mag. of Popular Astronomy over there. I have seen many wonders of the aurora in my 27 yrs of recording them -- 2230 times since 1981 to date.
