Sidequest: a mare comes barrelling out of God knows where! How did she get not knoticed at all?! Oh my goodness she's kicking ass! Dogs are flying she seems really capable!

Midos gasped for breath as he walked slowly through the sand, his dark coat sleek with sweat. He was limping slightly but glad to have escaped the dogs. At least thats what he thought. It took several hours and finally as the sun was starting to drift down Minos’ ears perked up in alarm and he suddenly felt slightly afraid. He could hear a steady panting and quick pawfalls approaching. The dogs had been tracking him this entire time, he never should have slowed down. Almost panicking, he broke into a canter once more, a sharp pain shooting up his leg but he didn’t let it show, disguising his limp as he cantered across the sand.

He was tired, but the dogs were also tired. However Minos was injured. One slip up and the dogs would realize they had an advantage. He ran on, the dogs still were not in sight but they were speeding up and getting closer. They clearly knew they were close to the tired stallion. He dared a glance back over his shoulder and he caught his first glimpse of the dogs, they looked renewed with excitement as they bounded across the hot sand, yapping and growling. Minos’ heart was pounding in exertion and fear. As he felt his injured leg about to give out he spotted an orange blur in the corner of his eye, his first thought was dread at the speedily approaching form, but he stumbled to a halt and stared in shock at the flying mess of sharp teeth and striking hooves.

The mare dove towards the pack of dogs with no hesitation in her gait as she leapt forward, quickly striking the very surprised leader of the pack, the dog yelped and tumbled across the sand as the mare sunk her teeth into another dog, flinging it away as it tried to bite her. She looked completely fearless and confident. Minos could not comprehend how a horse could take on a pack of dogs with such ferocity, he was not brave enough and he stood in stunned admiration, watching as the mare trounced the now fleeing canines. One of the dogs made a final attempt at attacking the red mare and bit onto her hock, but he was abruptly thrown through the air as she hopped upwards and kicked out her legs.

She spun and threw herself full force towards the dog who was barely stumbling onto his feet, he narrowly escaped her gnashing teeth and ran yelping after the rest of his retreating pack. The mare cantered after them for a few strides and then stopped and turned, tossing her head triumphantly, her long mane dancing as she trotted easily towards Minos. He was still standing, out of breath, in the same spot, awestruck and heart racing in amazement and now nervousness. The mare wouldn’t attack him now right? He shifted tensely, taking a small step forward, his ears perked stiffly and nostrils flaring.

“I suppose you should thank me now.” she said with easy pleasantry as she stopped a short distance away. She tilted her head, her long forelock falling across her head.

“Thank you,” he said awkwardly, but relieved that she seemed to have no intention to harm him “thank you very much, that was amazing.” his tone was genuine and the relief was apparent. He glanced nervously in the direction the dogs had fled in.

“No problem,” she said happily, with a tone of relaxation that Midos could not comprehend how she had after fighting off a pack of dogs.
